Leonardo is a really terrible monster.
Actually, he is terrible at being a monster.
He tries so hard to scare people, he just cannot compete with his scarier friends.
Leonardo however, determined to succeed, is sure he can scare someone, he just has to find the perfect scarey-cat kid.
In the end, Leonardo discovers that scaring people does not make him as happy as he always thought it would.

I cannot even explain how much I adore this book.
I bring it (or a Pigeon Book, still love my Pigeon!) to every single story time that I do, whether it is for children or for adults.
Willems use of white space is inspired, his prose is witty, and the moral is just heartwarming.
