Ariel's Story
Ariel grew up all over Canada, from the historic streets of Brockville and Montreal to the mountains of Canmore and the West Coast, collecting stories almost as eagerly as she collected books. She earned a degree in English Literature, specializing in Medieval English, from Concordia University and studied history at the University of Cambridge before completing a Master of Library and Information Studies at Dalhousie University.
A librarian by day, her fascination with forgotten histories, libraries, and the stories people leave behind have inspired her writing whenever she can steal the time. Ariel has written blogs, published articles, and been invited to speak at conferences on topics inspired by her work as a passionate advocate for literacy, diverse representation, Dungeons & Dragons, the power of stories to build community, and every child's right to read whatever sparks their imagination.
She's spent years studying medieval literature, history, libraries, and the stories cultures preserve, and the ones they lose. Her novels explore the places where history and magic blur, asking what happens when ordinary people discover the past isn't nearly as settled as we believe.
When she’s not writing, she’s usually listening to mystery audiobooks or true crime podcasts, photographing wildlife, or enthusiastically embracing whatever nerdy hobby has captured her attention that week. She lives just outside Edmonton, Alberta, with her spouse, one endlessly curious small human, one very large dog, and the two cats every librarian is apparently issued at orientation.
