Hot X: Algebra Exposed! – Danica McKellar (2010)

I didn’t make the connection until much later, but I had heard about some way back television star who went on to be a mathematician.

So to you I say meet Danica McKellar.

This book is clever, funny, amusing, and is divided into easy to manage sections.

Word equations are about entertaining and interesting subjects, there are no ‘train x leaves from some station at 13:40 and train y leave some other station at 12:50’ questions unless they are a source of comedic relief.

It is the type of book which can either be read straight through, or could be used as a tool in an alternate order as homework demands.

This easy navigation helps to make the book digestible. Otherwise, 417 pages of algebra could be daunting to say the least.

I wish this had been around when I was tethered to mandatory math, I think it would have made my life easier.
