Amy has been alone in her house in California for a month while she finishes her year.

Her  mother and twin brother are already on the other side of the country three months after the death of her father.

Having shut down in a desperately attempt to recoup in the aftermath of her fathers’ death Amy has receded from her friends and her family.

Until her absent mother phones her with the new plan.

Amy is going to be driving across the country with the son of her mother’s friend.

Some boy who Amy had once-upon-a-time played with is now going to chauffeur her across the country.

Completely with amazing playlists (provided), scrap book materials (documented), and outrageous games of 20 Questions, Amy and Roger embark on an amazing cross-country road trip.

I loved this book.

As with Elsewhere and Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist it isn’t absolutely clear where the story is going when it ends. But the story ends with hope, having resolved many of the issues which are lain out over the course of the book.

I loved the book & format so much that I even tracked down all the songs from all the playlists.

I’ve even going to get you started with this epic list from: JA Reads

I strongly suggest reading this book outside, in the sun, playlist by lovely playlist. Tall glass of lemonade, sweet tea, root beer, or cream soda is completely optional.
